President Jimmy Carter Funeral Service at National Cathedral

A national funeral service was held for former President Jimmy Carter at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. All living former presidents were in attendance, including President-elect Donald Trump, who was due to take office again in days. President Joe Biden gave remarks, paying tribute to Carter's character, saying, "character, I believe, is destiny--destiny in our lives and, quite frankly, destiny in the life of the nation." Other speakers included Steven Ford and Ted Mondale, the respective sons of former President Gerald Ford (R) and former Vice President Walter Mondale (D), who read eulogies written by their late fathers. President Carter's grandsons also spoke, as well as his former ambassador to the United Nations, Andrew Young. President Carter died in December 2024 at his home in Plains, Georgia; he was 100-years-old.
