Author P.J. O'Rourke was interviewed about his life, his career, and his writing. He responded to viewer telephone calls and electronic mail. A video clip was shown of Christopher Hitchens commenting on Mr. O'Rourke in a 1993 Booknotes program. Video clips were shown of Mr. O'Rourke in his Washington, D.C. apartment. In one clip he talked about his writing habits and in the other he gave a tour of his art and artifact collection. Mr. O'Rourke is now a correspondent for [Atlantic] magazine and a fellow at the Cato Institute. Formerly the editor of [National Lampoon], he has written for such publications as [American Spectator, Playboy, Esquire, Vanity Fair, House and Garden, The New Republic, The New York Times Book Review, Parade, Smart, Harper's], and [Rolling Stone].
