DNA disease detection global breakthrough

A team led by Professor EWA GOLDYS at UNSW Sydney has developed a groundbreaking test combining the accuracy of PCR with the simplicity of rapid antigen tests. Using CRISPR (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) technology and innovative ‘Nanocircles,’ the test amplifies genetic signals, enabling detection of multiple diseases, including COVID-19. When CRISPR finds matching DNA, it cuts Nanocircles, producing a visible color signal, bridging the gap between lab precision and at-home ease.
