Campaign 2026: Vice President Vance Remarks at Michigan Republican Campaign Event

Vice President JD Vance campaigned for the Michigan GOP ticket at a rally in Sterling Heights, Michigan. He spoke on the movement to codify guidelines requiring those who wish to obtain commercial driver's licenses to pass an English proficiency exam. He said he believed it was important for American jobs to not go to "low-wage foreigners." Vance also commented on U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed (D-MI) and said that he only stands up for those who are from the same group as him. He also admonished Dr. El-Sayed for campaigning with progressive streamer Hasan Piker and accused him of empathizing with terrorists. Vance also pushed back on comments Dr. El-Sayed made about the second lady, Usha Vance, and stated "keep my wife's name…out of your mouth, because she's way out of your league."
