NPR and PBS Executives Testify Before House DOGE Subcommittee

National Public Radio (NPR) and Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) executives and other witnesses testified before the House Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE) subcommittee about alleged biased content and government funding of the entities. Republicans questioned the journalistic standards of NPR and PBS and the need for federal funding for the two networks amid increased technology and access to the internet. Democrats shared concerns that the committee was not focused on issued they considered more pressing, such as Department of Government Efficiency cuts or national security. Additionally, witnesses discussed how public broadcasting was used in local and rural communities for communication during natural disasters or for educational purposes.
