Kilmar Abrego Garcia Speaks Before Arrest at ICE Field Office

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man deported to El Salvador in March and later returned to the U.S., spoke to reporters before being taken into federal custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (IC) authorities in Baltimore. Following his arrest, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem released a statement saying Mr. Abrego Garcia was being processed for "removal to Uganda." He was joined by Representative Glenn Ivey (D-MD), family members, and other supporters. In March 2025, Mr. Abrego Garcia was living in Maryland when he was mistakenly deported to his native country of El Salvador. He was flown back to the U.S. in early June, months after Judge Paula Xinis ordered his return, and then charged by the U.S. Justice Department with human smuggling.
