California military base damaged by Tropical Storm Hilary

Footage shows the damage Tropical Storm Hilary caused at the Sunset Cinema of the Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) in Twentynine Palms, California, on August 21. Heavy rain had battered the base, causing ceiling panels to fall. In a statement on Monday, the MCAGCC wrote: 'Tropical Storm Hilary has passed over Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center and the local area early this morning. Our highest priority is the safety of base personnel, training units, and their families. Watch out for any hazards, and report all damage.' Hilary was classified as a Category 4 hurricane as it churned over the Pacific, but was downgraded into a Tropical Storm on Sunday, August 20. The storm killed at least one person in Mexico, and brought record rainfall as it triggered mudslides and flash floods in southern California, local media reported.
