A Utah family is suing Discovery Ranch, a teen treatment facility in Mapleton, after their 17-year-old son died last fall. The family claims that negligence and systemic failures at the facility led to his death. According to the lawsuit, which was filed on Thursday, Biruk Silvers had a history of suicidal ideation, and he had told professionals at the facility he had specific plans similar to the way he died. His family alleges none of this was communicated to them and the facility and staff chose not to provide him with the necessary supervision.
