Alec Baldwin could face renewed legal scrutiny over the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film 'Rust'. A recent forensic report obtained by PEOPLE suggests that the prop gun's trigger must have been pulled "sufficiently" to cause the accident. This counters Baldwin's repeated denial of pulling the trigger. The charges against him were initially dropped in April, but the report could potentially lead to Baldwin facing charges again. The report also notes that the gun was found to function properly and had no indications of modifications. Hutchins died in October 2021 when the prop gun discharged. Prosecutors have emphasized a pattern of disregard for safety on the film set. The trial of the film's armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, is scheduled for December.
