Teen Arrested For Carjacking FBI Agent In Washington

A teenager has been arrested in connection with carjacking an FBI agent at gunpoint in Washington DC, per the Metropolitan Police Department. 17-year-old Devonta Lynch, of Southeast D.C., was arrested for the crime that took place on November 29 in the 100 block of 12th Street NE. Lynch, who is being charged as an adult according to Metro police, was allegedly one of two suspects who approached the agent as they exited their car. The car was found 25 minutes later, at 4.09 p.m., in the 1000 block of 15th Street SE. The FBI is assisting Metro police in the investigation with a $20,000 reward for tips that lead to the conviction of both suspects. Metro Police reported 924 carjackings in Washington in 2023, 77% of which involved firearms, compared to 429 carjackings in 2022. 64% of those arrested for carjacking within the city are juveniles, with 15 and 16-year-olds being the most common age of offenders.
