On July 4, 2026, a vehicle launching fireworks from the passenger window, sparked the attention of the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office Air Unit on a patrol flight. The fireworks were observed to be landing in the median and in traffic lanes as cars passed on I-95. These actions quickly ignited a law enforcement response, and patrol deputies located the vehicle. When deputies made contact, the occupants denied any involvement in shooting the fireworks, until they were informed that their bright idea had been caught on camera.
