Redbridge Council doesn't accept path through Wanstead Park as acceptable route for school admission

Redbridge Council does not accept the path through Wanstead Park as an acceptable route for school admissions. Parents who live near to Wanstead Park say this puts them at an unfair disadvantage because their house falls outside of the one-mile zone required to get sibling priority admission. If they walk through the park they live just over a mile to nearby Aldersbrook Primary School but if they drive they are farther away, putting them lower down on the admissions list. Despite this, many children use the path through the park to get to and from school. The Ilford Recorder created a timelapse video showing the route through the park which many children already take.
