The Senate took the first step Sunday night to end the longest government shutdown in US history, voting to end debate on a bipartisan deal that would keep the government funded through Jan. 30, 2026. The upper chamber could vote as early as Monday on final passage of the agreement, with the House all but certain to send it to President Trump’s desk later this week.
