It’s the first of its kind in the world. Farmers collect the manure from their cows and pigs in a tank or covered lagoon. The methane emitted by the manure is collected and purified then processed on site into liquified biomethane fuel. The tractor has been adapted by New Holland. The firm says it matches the performance of diesel-powered tractors but emits less CO2 when burned as fuel. It could also help farmers to become more self-sufficient, while preventing large quantities of methane from entering the atmosphere.
