A recent study suggests that psychedelic substances like psilocybin mushrooms and LSD may boost sexual function even months after the experience. According to the authors, this is the first formal exploration of psychedelics' effects on sexual functioning. While anecdotal reports hint at benefits, this has not been formally tested. Participants in the study reported improvements in various sexual aspects for up to six months post-psychedelic experience. These included increased enjoyment, arousal, satisfaction, attraction, self-perception, communication, and connection. Notably, enhancements were seen in perceiving sex as spiritual, satisfaction with appearance and partners, and pleasure. Interestingly, the study didn't find a significant rise in the importance of sex, suggesting psychedelics didn't lead to hypersexuality.
