Zohran Mamdani sworn in as New York City’s first Muslim mayor

Zohran Mamdani took the oath on a Quran just before midnight on Jan. 1 at the historic Old City Hall subway station, becoming the first Muslim, South Asian, and African-born leader of the nation’s largest city after a historic election victory.
