Taliban's cash demand in letter to US Congress amid financial crisis in war-torn Afghanistan

As Afghanistan reels under intense economic and humanitarian crisis, Taliban government has written a letter to the members of U.S Congress, seeking unfreeze of Afghan foreign assets currently blocked by the United Nations since the Islamist takeover of the country. Taliban's interim foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi told U.S Congress members that the American sanctions are unjustified as both the sides are not in direct conflict since the withdrawal of the foreign forces from Afghanistan. He called on U.S Congress members to ask Biden government to release Afghan capital in a bid to help the Islamist government to overcome the ongoing crisis in the war-torn country.
