E Sreedharan, on Tuesday said that it is not honourable to accept foreign aid for relief work in Kerala. He added that India has assests worth almost 12,000,000 crores. He demanded that an autonomous committee should be formed for building a new Kerala. He said that the faulty weather predictions was the reason for this huge scale calamity. The people had lost their trust in the MET department as their predictions often went wrong. Hence, this warning of heavy rain was not taken seriously resulting in huge damages. If the weather was correctly predicted, then the dams would have opened earlier on itself and maybe averting this disaster.
