Food writer Jack Monroe has said the ongoing campaign around free school meals highlights a "chasm of injustice", after pictures shared on social media showed inadequacies of the food parcels being given to families. Ms Monroe highlighted the need for year-round food vouchers as it was announced that schools will not provide free school meals over February half-term, and that councils should instead provide meals through the Covid Winter Grant Scheme. It comes as Footballer Marcus Rashford has stepped up pressure on Boris Johnson with a call for an urgent review of the Government’s policy in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
