Newly released police records provide additional details about the death of Regina Ann Santos-Aviles, a former staffer for U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales in Uvalde. Authorities say the records outline what officers encountered and what Santos-Aviles told them before she later died in a case ruled a suicide by the medical examiner. Records show she spoke with officers after setting herself on fire outside the residence. She was transported by air ambulance to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, where she later died from her injuries. The medical examiner ruled her death a suicide. The newly released files include details from officers’ reports, witness accounts and information about communications sent shortly before the incident. Santos-Aviles had served as director of Rep.
