The Overhead Squat is a movement used to assess a lifter's readiness to learn the squat snatch. It is also part of the sequence used to successfully learn the squat snatch. This is NOT a primary exercise in which heavy weights are used; it serves primarily as a warm-up prior to squat snatching. In the initial learning process, use only a dowel, PVC, or light bar.
