New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) announced changes to the land development process in order to increase the availability of affordable housing. The changes include speeding up environmental reviews and building permits, enhancing agency coordination, and simplifying the lottery system. According to Mamdani, these planned reforms could eliminate as much as two years from the building process.
