Tourists ride boat in choppy seas as severe storm Gaemi batters Philippines

Tourists clung to their seats as they sailed through choppy seas during severe storm Gaemi in the Philippines. Footage shows the family, each wearing an orange life vest, sitting in the vessel during bad weather in Leyte province on July 23. The group was heading to Kalanggaman Island for a tour but were caught in a heavy downpour with gusts on their way. One of the tourists, Rina Gatab, said: ‘We were caught up by the typhoon going back to Palompon. Gaemi was such very powerful.' Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Gaemi, locally named Carina, affects mainland Luzon and can become a typhoon. It is expected to exit the Philippines on Wednesday night, July 24, and head to the northern part of Taiwan.
