Nepal's mountains have lost one-third of their ice in 30 years, says the UN Secretary-General

Most of Nepal lies within the Himalayas. Temperatures are rising faster in this region than the global average. Glaciers in the Himalayas are set to lose 75% of their ice this century leading to dangerous flooding and water shortages for 240 million people. ‘The rooftops of the world are caving in,’ Guterres said during a visit to Nepal.
