Jane Hedengren thought she was sitting down with Diljeet Taylor, her soon-to-be cross country and track and field coach at BYU, in downtown Provo to discuss training and strategy during the summer before her freshman season. Instead, the record-setting 5-foot-10 distance runner from Timpview High was surprised by three-time Gatorade national cross country athlete of the year Katelyn Tuohy, who runs professionally for Adidas. Hedengren was joining the club, one that includes more than 71 gold medals and 34 national championships.
