In Depth: In Depth with Simon Winchester

Mr. Winchester participated in a three-hour discussion of his life and work. He spoke about his early career as a geologist and how he became a professional writer. Mr. Winchester is the author of many books, including [The Meaning of Everything], [Krakatoa], [The Map That Changed the World], and [The Professor and the Madman]. He was a foreign correspondent for the London [Guardian] and the [Sunday Times], and has been based in Belfast, New Delhi, New York, London, and Hong Kong. A video clip was shown of his home in Sandisfield, Massachusetts and of him working on a book about the San Francisco earthquake. During the interview he responded to viewer telephone calls and electronic mail.
