A new study suggests that intermediate-mass black holes, if they exist, consume stray stars in a similar way to "a messy toddler". Researchers discovered that when a star comes close to an intermediate-mass black hole, it's trapped in the black hole's orbit. The black hole then begins its prolonged and violent feast, taking a bite of the star with each lap and further consuming it with every passage.
