Palakkad: Even as the CPI {M} is reeling in the aftermath of recent imbroglios involving extra-marital relations of party progeny and sanguinary campus hooliganism, the latest chapter of unsavory development involves ‘Deshabhimani’. For the inauguration of the Coimbatore bureau of the party’s official organ in Malayalam, the CEO of the Nehru group, an educational institution implicated in the sensational Jishnu Pranoy case, features in the list of those invited to offer felicitations. Chief Editor, P Rajiv, a former state secretary of the Students Federation of India is scheduled to deliver the main address. The district unit of the student body, which is opposed to the educational institution, has objected to this move. District SFI secretary, Dinanath Chittur, has informed the state leadership of the issue. The body is still agitating against the accused P K Krishnadas over his role in the alleged murder, according to SFI, of their late leader. CEO Dr. P Krishnakumar is a brother of the accused. Two months back, Shoranur MLA P K Sasi had courted controversy by attending a function of a medical college in Ottapalam run by the group and lauding their activities. Earlier, when Mahija, the mother of the deceased, was denied an appointment with the CM, it was widely alleged that the party was protecting the interests of the institution.
