HOW TO TIE YOUR TAEKWONDO BELT

Diana Sicot, 4 times Open Tourney Gold Medalist and 2 times Pan-Am Bronze Medalist shows us how to tie a belt in taekwondo. The belt can be tied in a single wrap (uncommon) or double wrap (common). Taekwondo uses a color belt system to represent rank advancement and acknowledge individual personal progress. The "color belt" ranks—are indicated by the Korean word geup (in English gup or kup). Practitioners in these ranks generally wear belts ranging in color from white (the lowest rank) to red or brown (higher ranks, depending on the style of Taekwondo). The senior section of ranks—the "black belt" ranks—is typically made up of nine ranks. Each rank is called a dan.
