Italian panettone — a sweet bread studded with dried fruit — has long been a Christmas tradition, with most versions going for around $10. But, in recent years, they’ve gone designer, with Dolce & Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli and top chefs selling elaborately packed versions for upwards of $60 and even over $100. Oprah fave From Roy sells its panettone for $102, up from around $60 a few years ago, and was sold out for Christmas by Dec. 2. Downtown pizza temple Una Pizza Napoletana has had to increase production to keep up with their $109 version. Chef Anthony Mangieri defends the price. “All ours are hand-shaped, and it’s made with a mother yeast so it takes days to leaven before baking,” Mangieri told The Post.
