Stockholm Is Building an Entire Neighbourhood Out of Wood

‘Stockholm Wood City’ will occupy 25 city blocks in Sickla, an old industrial quarter in the south of Sweden’s capital. There will be 30 buildings in total, all of them made from mass timber. Providing 2,000 homes and 7,000 office spaces as well as shops and restaurants. Mass timber is made by glueing layers of wood together. It’s fire-resistant and strong and has a much lower carbon footprint than concrete which generates 8% of CO2 emissions worldwide.
