Verstappen Claims F1 Championship Lead ‘Bigger Than It Should Be’

Max Verstappen has said his Formula 1 championship lead over Charles Leclerc is bigger than it should be. Verstappen was gifted his seventh win of the 2022 season at the French Grand Prix after Leclerc crashed out. Leclerc qualified on pole for Ferrari and was leading the race when he crashed out on lap 18 following a mistake. Verstappen says his advantage in the title fight is bigger than it should be, considering the performance of the two teams. "Of course the lead we have is great, but it's probably a bit bigger than what it should have been, when you look at the car performances between the two cars," Max Verstappen. Following the crash, Leclerc took full blame for the incident, saying he was “not good enough”. "If I keep doing those mistakes then it is pointless to be performing at a very high level," Charles Leclerc.
