Baths vs. showers: which one is better for you? When hygiene is a concern, most people tend to jump into the shower for a quick, refreshing wash to get their day started. On the other hand, baths are considered more luxurious and are closely associated with 'self-care.' When it comes to cleanliness, baths have the potential to be more effective, but they require more effort and cost. Soaking your skin in essential oils and bath salts can make you cleaner than a shower, although it is recommended to rinse off afterwards. This applies only if your bathtub is thoroughly clean and free of dirt, which is rare for many of us. A bath requires more water than a shower, unless, of course, you usually take extra-long showers. Ironically, sitting in a bath for hours can actually dry out your skin, so those with sensitive skin should opt for a shower. Ultimately, the choice between showers and baths is subjective and context-dependent, but in general, showers are better than baths.
