We all know that looking at screens constantly is bad for our health. So here are some easy ways to reduce screen-time. You don’t need to have notifications on for every app on your phone. Turn off all non-essential notifications. As long as you’re still reachable via call or text there’s no need to have other notifications on. Never watch TV in bed or bring your phone with you to the bathroom. Both of these activities only encourage us to look at screens for longer than necessary. Establish screen-free zones in the home. Good places to start are at the dining table and in the bedroom. Make use of screen-time features on your phone. Many now have apps or built-in features available to analyze usage. Start using them to see how long you spend on your phone daily and turn-on time limits for your most-used apps. Tell friends to call instead of text. Rather than sending 20 messages in 15 minutes, it’s much easier and nicer to call someone. It may feel strange at first to have a phone call with friends but after a while, you’ll get used to it and perhaps prefer it.
