An AI companion app has taken over a Hell’s Kitchen bar, installing iPhone stands on high-top tables for users to prop up their partners for a romantic evening, as though they were there in the flesh. On February 11, Same Same Wine Bar was filled with patrons sitting at tables for one, while on video calls with AI characters of their making.
