Congressional Democrats on Trump Administration Closing USAID Headquarters to Staff

Democratic U.S. representatives and senators held a protest on the Trump administration closing the headquarters of the U.S. Agency for International Development to staff. They decried attempts to shut down the agency through executive order as illegal and expressed concerns about a billionaire-class takeover of the federal government by Elon Musk. Participating members of Congress included House Oversight Ranking Member Gerald Connolly (VA), House Judiciary Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (MD), Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on USAID Ranking Member Chris Van Hollen (MD), and several others. After the conclusion of the protest, members of Congress walked into the headquarters to hear directly from employees about the matter.
