American Express: US Cardholders Spent More Than $6,500 In Q4

American Express posted fourth-quarter results that showed consumer spending on its card remained unabated through the holiday season. Supplementals provided by the company in tandem with its earnings call showed that spending, by and large, topped pre-pandemic levels. The company said that billed business — which is activity on its cards, including cash advances — was up 32% year over year to $316.2 billion, and up 12% from 2019’s fourth-quarter levels.
