The lawsuit alleges that Healy breached festival guidelines by kissing bassist Ross McDonald on stage, leading to the festival being abruptly canceled. The band reportedly signed a contract agreeing to specific restrictions, including bans on kissing, profanity, and political speech. Healy then violated these terms with a provocative speech and actions that appeared deliberately designed to offend. Future Sound Asia claims the band was aware of the guidelines, and notes that The 1975 considered pulling out of their set the night before. Instead, Healy went on to perform, engaging in behavior that included drinking onstage, using profanity and damaging festival equipment. Future Sound Asia previously warned the band to pay over £2 million in damages or face legal action.
