Mark Carney is the UN’s expert on climate finance. In 2021, he launched the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero, convening financial institutions that are decarbonizing the economy. "The first is that an outcome is not a strategy. So, in other words, we all know that we need to stop burning fossil fuels. Just saying we need to stop is not going to make us stop. We have a global economy. We have food systems. We have heating systems. We have everything wired into this existing energy system. So we need actual plans and strategies in order to deliver that outcome."
