Advocates for the Department of Education held a rally outside of the agency's Washington, D.C., headquarters to oppose federal cuts and firings. Teachers, lawmakers, and organization leaders demanded the Trump administration immediately stop what they see as the tearing down of a "critical institution," with others threatening to sue the administration. The rally came on the heels of federal cuts to programs and firings of employees by the Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
