Freed Mahmoud Khalil sues Trump admin for $20M over ICE detention

Mahmoud Khalil, the Columbia graduate and outspoken pro-Palestinian activist, is seeking $20 million in damages from the Trump administration, claiming he was "falsely imprisoned, maliciously prosecuted and smeared as an antisemite as part of an effort to “terrorize him and his family.” His legal claim follows a 104 day ICE detention that began just before the birth of his son. The goal, Khalil said, is to send a message that he won’t be intimidated into silence.
