Economist and author Milton Friedman discussed, Austrian economist and philosopher, F.A. Hayek's book, [The Road to Serfdom]. Professor Friedman, who wrote the introduction to the 50th anniversary edition of the book, described its effect on the ever-changing political and social climates of the twentieth century. He discussed the book's influence on the rise of socialism after World War II, the Reagan and Thatcher administrations in the 1980s, and the shift in Eastern Europe from communism to capitalism in the 1990s.
