Kochi: Sleuths of the Income Tax department raided the residence of AICC cashier Mathews Varghese, a native of Chottanikkara. A special I-T team from Delhi initiated the raid on the basis of a report of black money usage in financial deals of the AICC. Mathews was at home in Chottanikkara when the ongoing raid began at 4 am on Friday. Mathews who supervises the important financial deals, especially those above Rs 5 lakh, of the AICC, has been staying in Delhi for the past 50 years.
