A study by The Academy of Medical Sciences found that anxiety is a “significant theme” in our society. They described this anxiety as “general, existential anxiety’. There are a lot of different ways to deal with anxiety but not all of them are effective. Many people have started using weighted blankets as a way to ease anxiety and have a better night's sleep. A weighted blanket is a blanket which applies light, even pressure to the entire body when placed over someone. It should be between 5-10% of your body weight but generally, a 12-pound blanket is suitable for most people. The even weight distribution of the blanket promotes relaxation. This can trigger the release of the feel-good hormones dopamine and serotonin. Both of which are known to help combat stress, anxiety, and depression. A study found that adults with chronic insomnia reported better sleep when using a weighted blanket. Another found that 63% of people sleeping with a weighted blanket experienced lower anxiety, and 78% felt calmer
