Weather slowly turning fresher after our record breaking holiday weekend

After the heat of the Bank Holiday weekend fresher conditions slowly edge eastwards this week. SE and eastern England have a few more hot days with sunshine and just a small risk of an isolated thunderstorm. Showers move up from SW England on Monday night across Wales and more of the Midlands and northern England on Tuesday, with a few rumbles of thunder. A weather front in the far NW will also reach NW Scotland and Northern Ireland. These showery areas merge in the middle of the week as the heat finally fades from SE England early on Thursday. Looking cooler for the start of September.
