Gnats hatch early, annual Buffalo Run cancelled

The uncommon spring temperatures across Utah have given the notorious biting gnats on Antelope Island the opportunity to hatch four weeks early. And that prompted the unprecedented cancellation of the annual Buffalo Run. Organizers were expecting about 650 runners on Saturday. These bugs are resistant to insect repellant, and they didn't want to put the runners or anybody else into an environment that wasn't conducive to running.
