Kristi Noem says travelers without REAL ID 'will be allowed to fly' — but with a catch

As the deadline for REAL ID takes effect May 7, United States Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem told the House Appropriations Committee that travelers who aren't compliant with the new identification requirements will still be able to fly, but should be prepared for extra scrutiny. "Folks will come through the line and will issue their ID and show it. If it's not compliant they may be diverted to a different line — have an extra step," she said. "But people will be allowed to fly."
