Every homeowner has a basic idea of what can be considered a fire hazard in their home, however, there are more than you think. Many of these fire hazards go unnoticed because they start from everyday objects that seem far from hazardous at first glance. Firstly, an overloaded power outlet or extension lead can overheat and cause a fire, even if it seems safe to plug multiple objects into. Another fire hazard involves the lint build-up in your dryer, more specifically your venting hose which is a risk if exposed to any form of heat. Outdated or faulty wiring behind walls is a fire risk and can be noticed when you frequently see lights flicker or experience fuse blowouts. Grease can build up on the top of stoves and can be hazardous, so regularly cleaning your ovens and stoves is recommended to avoid a fire. Lastly, portable heaters are quite useful, however, if they are stored next to flammable objects they can pose a significant risk.
