Books That Shaped America: Books That Shaped America: [The Common Law]

In part five of Books That Shaped America, the National Constitution Center's Jeffrey Rosen explored [The Common Law], an 1881 book authored by legal scholar and jurist Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr., who went on to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. The program also includes: an interview with Clare Cushman, the producer of the film [Holmes], and Kevin Reese, who plays the part of Holmes; a tour of the Library of Congress room devoted to Holmes; and comments from a University of Central Florida professor who teaches about Holmes and [The Common Law]. Books That Shaped America is a 10-part series, created in partnership with the Library of Congress, that examines major works of literature that have had a significant impact on the country and public policy.
