Utah Gov. Spencer Cox signed an executive order Friday to launch the GRIT initiative, focused on improving Utah’s government efficiency. The GRIT initiative – which stands for “Government Reform, Innovation & Transparency” – was created with the intention that each state agency would evaluate itself and “strive to efficiently provide high quality services, mitigate risk, and deliver broad benefits to Utahns,” according to the order. Cox took to X Friday to announce the order, taking effect immediately, saying, “We’re building on what works and fixing what doesn’t. That’s GRIT.”
